I haven't made a single classic space scene in 2011, even though I have my roots in space art. So here you go. The main motivation for this work was to practice angles and perspective and it took a lot longer than expected.
To complete this image I made use of several different techniques: While the station in the foreground is mainly painted with addition of a few textures ([link] and cgtextures.com), the resource for the people in it is stock photography ([link][link][link]). To render the planet and the spaceship the 3D functions of Photoshop came in handy. The ship model in the mid-planes is based on one of ~dmaland's renders ([link]) and edited with the usual addition of textures and effects. Thanks a lot!

This is just spectacular, it seems I have found a new favorite piece and artist here on dA. I believe your work is most inspiring, not only to artists in our space art community but any artist of each trade and genre.
